My Vote

I think that having a first and second place winner would be good.
Ditto to the fact that doing this is the most important thing to me,
getting rid of bad habits, and gaining new good habits to feel better
and losing weight will be the reward for me!!

My Vote.

My vote for the winnings would be to have two winners. 1st place get most of the pot while second place gets the reminder. But I agree with Lori that I'm not too picky. :)

my vote

my vote for the winnings is 2 places. but i am really ok with any decision because i feel that we will all be winners if we gain new habits, get healthy and lose weight :)

Tying up Loose Ends

Okay all - we are starting this Game for reals tomorrow. I'm really looking forward to getting back some control on what I'm doing with my body.

Just a few last things I feel needs to be discussed before the starting day tomorrow.

1. 25 dollars - just a reminder that everyone will need to put in 25 dollars at the beginning of the game (I realize it's hard to see some people often, but just as soon as possible). Lori Goudie will be keeping track of the money - don't worry, she's trustworthy. ;)

2. Winnings - this brings us to our next topic of business which is the winning pot. We've had it suggested by a few people that it might be nice to have a second (and possibly third?) place winner. What do you all think? I feel this should be something that is voted on, not just decided by me. So here are our options:

            a. Winner Takes All. One winner gets all the pot (10 people = 250 dollars)
            b. 2 Winners. 1st would get 200 and 2nd place would get 50  (or something similar)
            c. 3 Winners.  1st would get 150, 2nd 75, and 3rd 25. (Again numbers could be different)

Post your vote on the blog and we'll decide officially what we want to do with the winnings. :)

3. Weighing In - In order to make sure that the final weight bonus points are accurate we will need to all weigh in at the beginning of the game (this week) and at the end of the eight weeks. Since we are all a little all over the place and may not know each other, we thought it would be easiest to just weigh-in in front of at least one other player to vouch for your weight. Also it would be best to make sure you use the same scale at the beginning of the game as well as at the end of the game to keep numbers more accurate. This of course applies only to those that haven't already weighted in front of Lori. :)

Welp, I think thats it.

Don't forget to post your vote on the winnings - if no one puts in their vote I'll just decide on my own. ;)

Healthy Meals/Healthy Snacks

I've had a few people ask me about the phrase 'Healthy Meals' or 'Healthy Snacks', so I thought I would post on the blog for everyone just to some what clarify what those phrases means exactly.

While we don't want to put huge restrictions on what people eat (thats one of the advantages of this game is being able to feel what your body needs and eat accordingly), there are of course guide lines that can help you eat healther. For example - having balance in a snack or meal. Try to have some protein or fiber (or both!) in a snack. Try and have at least a veggie or fruit with each meal (as well as a protien, carb, and a fat).

Baked chips would not be considered a healthy snack - but a handful of nuts and some carrots would. Just an apple on it's own would not be considered a healthy snack, but throw in some string cheese and you've got one.

As for meals, again try and throw in some veggies or fruit to the mix, keep calories down - but make sure and get enough, don't eat a lot of starchy, fried, or super sugary things and of course always remember portion control.

Hopefully this helps people understand what Healthy Meals and Healthy Snacks are.

:)

Updating Habit's

Hello again!

I believe I have now sent you all an invite to your Email address. Once you have accepted the invite (and possibly made an account and password) you should be able to post things to the blog. As soon as you accept the invite I will go in and give you admin rights so you can go and edit your habits page and put in what your New Habit and Old Habit are for the game. You will have until Friday to change these if you decide to.

To edit your habits just click on your name on the right and then you should see a little pencil at the bottom of the page that when you put your mouse over it it says 'Edit', click on this and type in your goals and then click publish page.

If you'd rather not deal with this I can put in your goals for you - just Email them to me at katie.goudie at gmail.com.

Let me know if you run into any problems!
